The More Humiliating Implications of Praying

The More Humiliating Implications of Praying

some insomniac musings by The Overlord Bear/Jem De Ocampo

For one, your pride will only make it unbearably painful.

When you pray, you make yourself look like a servant. It doesn’t matter what higher being you pray to and what sort of intervention you ask for, and your pride will only make it unbearably painful. You go against humanity’s desire to be a master, to be bound to none but one’s own self.

When you pray, you present yourself as someone who believes in standards. It doesn’t matter what standards you believe in and what standards you fight against, and your pride will only make it unbearably painful. You go against humanity’s desire to be the standard or be above standards, which can be changed on a whim or in a blink.

When you pray, you show that you didn’t make yourself by yourself. It doesn’t matter who and/or what you sold your soul to and for, and your pride will only make it unbearably painful. You go against humanity’s belief in being self-made, whether individual or collective.

When you pray, you’re asking for punishment beyond your control. It doesn’t matter what laws you bind yourself to and shake yourself off of, and your pride will only make it unbearably painful. You go against humanity’s belief in being always free of punishment beyond their control, control which humanity believes themselves to be deserving of in this world of hurt we have to live in.

When you pray, you accept that truth and love also bring hurt. It doesn’t matter how you see truth and love and what form they take, and your pride will only make it unbearably painful. You go against humanity’s daily escape from suffering, which even truth and love bother to live with.

When you pray, you violate theories about the ego being essential to true happiness. It doesn’t matter how awesome or lame you’re seen as with it and how many or few people notice you with it, and your pride will only make it unbearably painful. You go against humanity’s sense of entitlement, which they doll up for the more foolish to more easily consume.

When you pray, you expose yourself as the idiot you truly are. It doesn’t matter how big of an idiot or a genius you’ve been and how respected or disrespected you are for it, and your pride will only make it unbearably painful. You go against humanity’s inclination towards self-damnation, which seems like their only good choice in life with all those blessings they get despite and through the sins they’ve committed.

Now, do note that those are just the pains from merely praying. Praying properly? I don’t think you’d like to imagine how more humiliating that would be. Good thing you’re not praying, right? Why am I even doing this, though? I mean, we don’t even need this sort of thing, right? Maybe I’m just doing this because I can, so please, don’t mind me.
